Fari Bradley
Born in Iran and raised in UK, Bradley is an auto-didact artist with a background in music and media. Working with sound, sculpture and broadcast Bradley perverts media to reengage with materiality, confounding straightforward representation with a constant repositioning of the message.
Bradley's research-led practice ranges from text (totems, spoken word), composition and performance (electronics, experimental instruments) and found materials.
Bradley's methodologies shift as they question ideas of communication, listening and the politics of sound, interaction and research as process. Themes are radio, sound sculpture, unheard sound, environment, technology. The works feature in collections in UAE, Kuwait and UK, and have shown in the Levant, USA, Europe and Middle East. Performances include South London Gallery, Beaconsfield Gallery and V&A.
As a solo artist and as joint practice 'Bradley-Weaver', commissions came from London Architecture Week, Maraya Arts Centre, Art Dubai 2013-2015, Venice (various national pavilions), British Council and Frieze Projects.
Bradley's arts-radio work evolves from a Resonance104.4fm weekly broadcast, since 2005. Radio commissions include Clocktower Radio, Venice Agendas, Al Serkal Avenue and Sharjah Art Foundation. Bradley has completed residencies at Tashkeel, Sharjah Art Foundation, Malja, Lahore Biennial Foundation and Sound and Music. Bradley is released on The Vinyl Factory/ Sub Rosa.
